Richard Newton

The professional career of Richard Newton initially followed the traditional route of obtaining an honours degree in Quantity Surveying at Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University) and subsequent qualification as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

The economic downturn of the early 1980's ensured that the future pattern of career development would be anything but traditional, commencing with a 12-month assignment in Saudi Arabia with a major Dutch contractor. On return to the UK there followed engagements on a number of major commercial schemes as an independent surveyor.

Consolidating on the range of experience gained in the post-recession period of the mid-80's Richard Newton founded the Practice of Richard Newton Associates in 1987.

Since 1987 the Practice has become well established having advised in the procurement of a range of developments and has specialised in providing commercial support to general contractors and sub-contractors, having been involved on a large number of major developments, many located in Central London.

In addition to being a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Richard Newton is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been awarded their Advanced Certificate in Adjudication, which is a qualification in the Law of Adjudication. He is also a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Adjudication Society.
