Claim Preparation

The preparation of a "claim" can serve a number of purposes. It may be to protect or preserve rights where others have caused delay or to recover the resulting costs.

An example of the preservation of a party's rights would be a claim for an extension of time as a defence to the imposition of liquidated damages. But time is money and the claim maybe for loss and expense to recover the costs incurred resulting from the delay.
